Woven on traditional frame looms in the high altitudes of Tawang, the Monpa Thagzo ceremonial brocade cloth is a sacred covenant of art. Crafted from lanolin-rich yak wool sourced above 10,000 feet, the fleece is hand-spun and naturally dyed using foraged Himalayan plants like turmeric, indigo, and madder roots.
The cloth features a large central mandala pattern, memorized from the Tawang Monastery ceiling. Every thread is laid with a protection prayer, making this brocade not just a textile, but a woven piece of devotion.
Originating from the Tawang Region, this beautiful piece is made of yak wool and natural dyes. It stands as a testament to the enduring mountain heritage and artistic spirit of the Monpa people.
